I am Heekyoung Jung. I studied in Industrial Design at KAIST (BS & MS) . My academic advisor was Tek-Jin Nam. Studying industrial design for over six years from 1998 to 2005, I am proficient in the multimedia and interaction design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, Device Central, and Arduino using Processing). At the same time, I am skilled in conceptualizing new ideas, developing design guidelines through user-centered design approaches (i.e., survey, contextual inquiry, focus group interview, participatory design/evaluation), and creating initial prototypes—both software and hardware.
Currently I am a PhD student in the School of Informatics in the field of Human-Computer Interaction Design at Indiana Universtiy (expected to graduate by Spring 2011). My academic advisor is Erik Stolterman, and I have Jeffrey Bardzell, Eli Blevis, Kay Connelly, and Hamid Ekbia on my dissertation committee.
I am motivated to explore new design space of emerging technologies and to enrich user experience with special interests in aesthetics in human-computer interaction, tangible/embodied interaction, material effects of digital technology, and digital ecosystems.
